The Empress of Britain is the most memorable ship I sailed on when crossing the Atlantic in February 1952. Won’t go into detail about the seven-day voyage except to say I spent much of it the cabin.
However, looking at paintings of Great Lakes ships is thoroughly enjoyable, especially when they are dramatic and sometimes mystical as are those on display now in Owen Sound.
Watercolour artist Duane Fenwick’s paintings of a dozen ships, some we’ll never see again, are on display at Marine & Rail Museum, 1st Avenue West, until March 18th. Worth a look.For a quick peek:
